An introduction

Welcome

To The Wonderful Art Of Felting With Wool.

I am thrilled you are here to learn and experiment the wonderful art of felt making. This is going to be so much fun, Wool is a beautiful versatile natural material. I hope you will enjoy this course as much as I loved creating it for you.

So jump straight in.

I have many years of experience in felt making and working with natural fibres. I studied leather work for 3 years in Switzerland and have many awards received for my bridle works. Nowadays I work mainly with wool where I have been just as successful.

I am looking forward to share my knowledge with you. So you too, can create fabulous wall-hangings to be proud of. Mabey you are even thinking of selling your art at exhibitions and showcase your felt art in Galleries. Who knows where this course is going to lead you. But one thing is for sure, It will be fulfilling, enjoyable and bringing you many happy hours spent in your own company. And that surly can't be bad.

I will lead you all the way. With no guess work. But should you have a question, then I will answer that in the comments section for you. The comments section is located at the bottom of each module. You will easily find it. You can even send in picture, which I would love to see.

So lets begin.

To start off with, I will talk a little about the different materials you will need, tools and other tips.

For this course I have chosen a hare sitting in a meadow.

You have two choices for this course. Create the same as me with the hare as the centre piece. Or create a meadow with flowers only.

The decision is yours. The meadow only is not as time consuming as the hare.

But before you start. Look through the lesson" What wool and other materials are needed."

Then you have two options. To do an animal like me, or just flowers in a meadow.

  • To do the hare (or any other animal) go to Starting On The Hare lesson. The background is added later.

  • To do only flowers with no animal, then head straight to The Background lesson.
